Project 1: Applique ~ Lace

Supplies: Lace, Fabric, and Thread
Cut two lace appliques and trimmed off loose backing around the edges
Tacking under frayed edges from being cut apart from other lace pieces
Tacking under raw edge to wrong side
Layout ~ I tried several different mirrored directions, but settled the flowers in the center and the leaves on the outside.
Used two rulers to make sure the lace pieces were exactly mirroring each other
Pinned both lace pieces to the fabric to start hand sewing it in place
Started sewing the applique down by sewing stitches on the inside of the rolled edge of the applique
I realized after a few stitches that this would not hold the applique down correctly but leave little edge that would catch so I switched and looped the thread over the rolled edge to sew it down more firmly
Back of the left lace piece, I tied a knot about every 3rd to 4th half circle and tucked loose under other stitches
One side finished
