After searching through the Audio Assignments, several stood out to me as fun and interesting ones to try – one of those was Sounds Of Your Day. I’m a real novice with audio apps and everything involved in making music, but I thought I would give this one a try. I tried to record normal sounds of my day with some thrown in that might make you wonder what in the world is that. I think my husband was amused at me pulling out my phone and saying “Oh wait a minute let me record that sound”. I actually ended up with a lot of sounds, but not sure I will use them all as I have another Audio Assignment in mind for them.
My day was pretty normal, wake up, go to work, eat, do laundry, do homework, do the dishes, and then sleep. Nothing unusual or strange about it, but the sounds after I put them together, I know what I’m doing, but I didn’t realize how cool some of the things sound when you are doing them.
Tutorial using the Sound Recorder App
- I download the Sound Recorder Plus App from the Google Play store
- After you open the app, all you have to do is hit the red record button in the bottom center of the screen to start recording a new sound, you can record for a few seconds or for several minutes.
- When you are finished with recording your sound, select the save check mark circle button
- A text box will appear with the highlighted words Recording 1 and your phone’s keyboard will pop up, start typing what the sound is (like Dishwasher) and then click save
- If at anytime during the sound recording you want to pause and resume again, you have that option
- Or you can also hit the X circle button to discard your recording if you didn’t like it
- I tried to keep my records to less then :25 seconds so I didn’t have to do too much editing
- I used Audacity to combine my sound together and I used a How To use Audacity You Tube Video for some helpful tips
- Open up Audacity and your music sound folder after you have imported them from your phone
- Drag and drop your first audio file into the dark gray area and then it will open up in Audacity

- If you need to edit or delete silent on your sound, drag your cursor across that area to highlight that part in white and then select delete on your keyboard
- I went through and edited most of the sounds individually first before putting them together
- To merge all your audio files click on File and then Import – I also listened to this helpful Merge MP3 video
- Find your audio files and select all of them, click open
- This will open all your audio files, click on the selct menu and choose All
- Now that all the tracks are selected, click on the Tracks and then select Align Tracks and then Align End to End
- This will put your tracks in a diagonal line end to end
- Then select the Tracks menu and click on Mix and then select Mix and Render this puts them all on the same track
- If you want to edit anything you can do this now before Exporting
- To Export, click on File and the Export and select MP3 or WAV – I did WAV because I needed to upload it to Sound Cloud
