As I thinking about how to do an Inanimate Motion video and what objects to use, I came across a bag of rubber duckies in our house and realized these would be the perfect object to use and create movement with them for a story. There were quite a few “themed” ducks that went together, so I had to narrow down and think through what the story was going to be. I had a set of ducks that were party themed, some that are covered in hearts and lips, a set that was beach themed, another set that is different branches of the military, and then another set that are cowboy themed.
The more I thought through the storyline, I felt like the beach-themed ducks would create the best cute story. I started with just one duck that really isn’t beach-themed as she is covered in blue flowers, but she is tired of being around her flowers and is looking for something fun to do, she hears her friends in the distance and decides to go check out what they are doing and this leads her to the beach where everyone is having a great time with the beach ball, sand bucket, snorkeling, swimming or just enjoying each other’s company. They end up meeting a larger duck who takes them for a ride across the waves!
I used my phone to take each of the pictures, Win Movie Maker to create the video, and then download a cool audio sound from Sound Cloud
Tutorial:
- Download your sound(s) from Sound Cloud and edit them in Audacity if you need to – mine was too long so I had to shorten it before I uploaded it to the Movie Maker
- Download and open up Win Movie Maker and click on start new project – this ended up opening a 2nd screen which showed me step-by-step how to make a video: How to Use Windows Movie Maker 2022 Full Feature Mode
- Click on the import images and videos plus sign in the box and upload all the photos that you want to use (side tip: have your photos in order before you upload them – this will help things go faster)
- Now Click on Music under the Project Media tab and upload your background music
- I used one audio clip for the entire video – to do this, click on Add to Timeline drop-down menu and click Add to Begining – this then placed your audio down below your pictures
- To adjust how long a picture is played, select shift+u on your keyboard and the duration screen will pop up. Use the arrow to add or delete time and then select apply to all for all your pictures to have the same time
- You can also click on Transitions and chose how you want each picture to appear – I did play around with it but ended up not using it
- Click on Text to add a Title and End clip and then edit as needed
- Play your video and if everything is okay select Export and then select Upload to YouTube
- Edit the name, make sure you choose High Quality under the Export Settings or your video will be grainy, and then select Export – the Win Movie Maker will add a watermark unless you want to purchase it
- Click Find Target, this will open up the folder where the video is saved
- Open up YouTube, select create video icon and drag and drop your video into it and fill in your title, make it public, etc to upload it.
